This book is for those who want to give
spirituality an honest chance but do not know where to look for the
answers. It is for those who are eager to take the plunge now but do
not know, where-how-when to get started and how much to do or commit
upfront. It pre-empts them from learning the lessons the hard way by
imbibing lessons from those who have had to suffer, struggle and
quit many times before finding the answers or the way.
The
problem today is compounded with demand for spirituality on the
increase and innumerable paths, meditation techniques, masters,
teachers having cropped up. Each seems to be promising ananda or
bliss, stress release, relaxation etc in the most effective manner
and shortest time. A seeker thus wonders as to how all of them can
in fact be equipped to lead one to the goal? There are no third
party certifications or audits in this mystical path. The worry thus
seems to be, “What if I were to choose a wrong path – one that is
not robust enough to lead me through this maze?”
The book tries to aid such seekers by :
-
Providing an overview of various theories,
concepts in a rational, questioning way. This can keep the seeker
from being bogged down with unanswered questions, contradictory
messages, doubts and concerns that inevitably arise as one tries
to gather data & information on the paths.
-
Introducing some of the popular techniques;
explaining a broad categorization of meditation technique types,
as well as their comparison.
-
Discussing Tools, Quantifiable methods and
Criteria to select a technique that was best suited to oneself.
(‘No one size fits all’, as they say)
-
Care to be exercised so that unrealistic
expectations do not lead to disillusionment or premature
quitting. |
